Congress Park is located in central Denver, just southeast of downtown. It's a popular urban neighborhood that has an eclectic mix of charm, restaurants, parks, as well as a large portion of 7th Avenue Historic District. The neighborhood features a collection of grand mansions and estates that date back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries. These homes showcase a variety of architectural styles, including Queen Anne, Denver Squares, Georgians, Colonial Revival, Tudor Revival, and Mediterranean Revival and bungalows.
The tree-lined streets of the 7th Avenue Parkway add to its elegance and charm and the bike lanes along the Parkway and 12th Avenue, and bus stops, make commuting easy (Congress Park sits about three miles west of downtown). The 7th Avenue Historic District is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, recognizing its significance in preserving the architectural and historical heritage of Denver. Though it is Denver’s largest historic district, it is only two blocks wide for most of its length. The district runs from Logan Street to Colorado Boulevard and from East 6th to East 8th Avenues. From Steele to Harrison Streets, its width is confined to the East 7th Avenue Parkway and to those homes that border the parkway. The district's preservation efforts have helped maintain the integrity and authenticity of the homes, ensuring that their unique character is preserved for generations to come.
Congress Park namesake has much to offer with its green space, tennis courts, recently renovated outdoor pool, and baseball and softball fields. For more greenery, head just beyond the neighborhood boundaries to Cheesman Park, City Park, or Denver Botanic Gardens (a favorite!). The neighborhood also benefits from its central location, providing easy access to downtown Denver, Cherry Creek, and other vibrant areas of the city.
